Blasphemy At The Blender…

On August 11, Marduk finally arrived on our shores to make up a few dates from their previously scheduled tour in June with Mayhem as part of Blackened Fest. With satanic songs in their arsenal to pick from like 'Jesus Christ Sodomized' and 'Christraping Black Metal', it was evident that tonight's show at the Blender Theater was not for the weak or of strong religious beliefs.

Presenting a bare bones stage show with traditional black metal corpse paint makeup, guitarist and founding member Morgan Håkansson now joined by Daniel "Mortuus" Rosten on vocals, Magnus Andersson on bass, and Lars Broddesson on drums still delivered the goods in spades with sonic brutality, militant and ominous interludes, and hellish arrangements. Mortuus is one of the strongest figures I have seen yet when it comes to black metal frontmen as his body positions and shear gut wrenching delivery literally spews demonic words and prayers of Satan. He surely could be a priest in Hell.

When Marduk returns to do more extensive touring I am hoping for some stage props. It will surely round out their terrifying presentation.

Setlist:

The Leveling Dust
With Satan and Victorious Weapons
On Darkened Wings
Baptism By Fire
Of Hell's Fire
Still Fucking Dead
Azrael
Beyond The Grace of God
Materialized in Stone
Cold Mouth Prayer
Wolves
Throne of Rats
Fistfucking God's Planet
Panzer Division Marduk
Burn My Coffin

Marduk’s new album “Wormwood” will be released by Regain Records on September 24th in Europe and North America and plan on returning to the States for more dates in the fall/winter of 09.
