Riot - Through The Storm

Label: Metal Blade Records
Format: CD
Released: 2002
Reviewed By: Rich Catino

Riot has been making records, and some classic ones at that, since the late '70's namely “Fire Down Under”, “Restless Breed” and “Thundersteel”. Although singers have changed over the years, now handled by Mike Dimeo's characteristic smooth style, it has not been a negative towards their American hard rockin sound. The guitars are strong and solid with graceful solos kept to a classic hard rock arrangement. Playing drums is Bobby Rondinelli (Rainbow/Sabbath) who, as always plays the kit like the thunderous storm cloud on the CD's cover artwork.

Songs like "Lost Inside this World" have that unmistakable Riot singable chorus. "Through the Storm" has a catchy riff and a smooth bridge lead into the equally enjoyable hook. They also tackle a cover of the classic U.F.O. tune "Only You Can Rock Me" and deliver a rockin rendition. Another great album from these guys--glad to have them still around.
