Fleshcrawl – Made of Flesh

Label: Metal Blade Records
Format: CD
Released: 2004
Reviewed By: Rich Catino

Somebody has been listening to some At The Gates, haven’t we. That’s the first thing that came to mind more so with the guitar sound on the opener “Beneath a Dying Sun”. The band has been in existence since 1987, then under the name Morgoth followed by Suffocation and finally settling on Fleshcrawl. They have made a good name for themselves, touring with the likes of Vader and Deicide, hitting fests like Wacken and Dynamo.

This is death metal, vocals are not that undistinguishable, although clearly death in style. For the music it’s a variety in the delivery and tempos between blast beats. “Into the Depths of no Return” slows it down and having some melody to the guitars, grooves, reminding me again of At The Gates.

Fleshcrawl are one of the less brutal in the genre, maybe offering something to those wanting a taste of the more extreme without it being too much.
