From Norway, Zyklon’s full throttle death metal features Samoth from Emperor with drummer Trym (Emperor, ex Enslaved). Given the level of intensity this band produces its good to hear that the mix was done by Fredrik Nordstrom who has worked with Dimmu Borgir, Hammerfall, Dream Evil among others.

For this third release, production wise this sounds great, full, heavy and monstrous. Check out ‘Ways of the Worlds’ with its to the second precise execution and wall crumbling drums. This is how I like my extreme metal, thick yet clear as hell, a well balanced wall of sound. No mud to be heard. The wicked vocals and guitar leads also are given plenty of space among the mix so everyone is heard. Not every song has the same delivery, well they are all extreme, but Zyklon do mix up the drum beats for a song like A Cold Grave’ and two vocal styles work together on the track. The use of guitar leads brings some melody to the music which is a good counter balance to the extreme deliveries.

I would say definitely one of the more talented and creative names from this genre to check out.
