Bludgeon – World Controlled

You can say that the city of Chicago and the urbanized attitude of its people have made a name for themselves as one of the tougher cities in America like New York, Brooklyn, etc. That attitude surely comes through on Bludgeon’s "World Controlled", one of the new bands found on Manowar bassist Joey Demaio’s label Magic Circle Music. Joey also produced the bands very heavy debut which mixes parts of speed and hardcore metal, more so the latter.

Its not Metalcore, this has more in common with Biohazard (ex; ‘Refuse the True’) and vocals are delivered in the same fashion, spoken in verse almost like reading poetry with moments of ballsy emphasis on certain words. ‘Hunt or Be Hunted’ starts off with the speed riffing and then changes into a mid tempo beat and then back again to the speed. Bludgeon does mix up their arrangements but I would have preferred a different vocal style because this has too much in common with Biohazard and I’m not into that to begin with.
