Kamelot – Ghost Opera – The Second Coming

Label: SPV USA
Format: 2 - CD
Released: 2008
Reviewed By: Rich Catino

Kamelot’s transition from the studio to the stage is effortless, and the live tracks included on this reissue of “Ghost Opera” demonstrate just that. Their live sound man is doing a hell of a job. Doubt me?? If you haven’t already checked out their live DVD “One Cold Winter’s Night”, then do so, and you will see that Kamelot have got to be one of the cleanest sounding, tightest, and well rehearsed bands on the metal scene today. Comparatively equal to Queensryche’s “Operation Mindcrime” artistically, Kamelot achieves the Ryche’s level of excellence and class on releases like “Epica”, “Karma”, one I highly recommend “Fourth Legacy”, and “The Black Halo”.

This reissue of “Ghost Opera” allows us to revisit another theatrical gem and includes the eleven tracks found on the original release, plus a promo video for ‘The Human Stain” and “Memento Mori” live from Serbia. CD 2 includes ten songs “Live from Bulgaria” (from which I made my original statement about the band) and four bonus tracks; a remix of “Rule the World” from “Ghost Opera”, ballad “Seasons End” and a sort of outro titled “Epilogue”, and rocker “Pendulous Fall” which (in Kamelot’s world) incorporates some accompanying female vocals.

The package also features new artwork and a comprehensive booklet to make a re purchase worth your money.
