Andromeda - The Immunity Zone

A little off-kilter keyboard wonk introduces (and reappears throughout) the opening, voiceover laden ‘Recognizing Fate’. Elsewhere, things smooth out, including ‘Censoring Truth’, which could be an Odyssey-era Symphony X outtake (with a little sci-fi keyboards towards its conclusion). The similarly upbeat ‘Another Step’ is another winner, with a variety of guitar and keyboard runs.

‘Slaves Of The Plethora Season’ is built on a bouncy In Flames meets Dark Tranquillity synth pomp chorus, before slowing to more traditional (albeit it a little more staccato grit) prog fare. It voices the unusual observation; "Living in the immunity zone. It’s time to rejoice: boys & toys. In a corner of the world, we have nothing much to fear, so we turn on each other. Some girls have formed a plan. It goes right passed equality. It’s without deception, injustice for 10,000 years now blaming anyone who can get an erection." Huh? ‘My Star’ begins as a hushed Marilyn Manson electronica sexcapade, only in the final 90 seconds does the guitar show us (boy does it!). ‘Shadow Of A Lucent Moon’ is based on global warming/ecology.
