With artwork that combines their classic 80s releases, including the depiction of an enticing boardwalk babe right out of my youth (halter top, cut-off short, OK, no tattoos back then), Jersey’s own Whiplash began life as a trio, all with the first name Tony. Today, only guitarist/singer Tony Portaro remains. Speaking of back-from-the-dead, long missing ex-Sodom/ex-Kreator guitarist Frank Blackfire adds solo touches to ‘Pitbulls In The Playground’ and the instrumental jam ‘Parade Of Two Legs’.

Drummer Joe Cangeloi (did a stint with Kreator as well) sings the punked up Montrose cover ‘I’ve Got The Fire’, perhaps the speediest number on the disc (that or ‘Float Face Down’). Portaro’s off kilter voice is on the high-pitched side, definitely not modern death/black metal growls. ‘Snuff’ possesses a funky groove within the thrashing mayhem, while ‘Firewater’ is built around an opening jingle bells accompanied Native American chant. ‘Hook In Mouth’ is played as a 70s blues hard rock, big guitar chords, lots of cymbals on the drums and change in dynamics that goes from near acoustic guitar to full on chorus. Not exactly what one expects from a “thrash” album. The ‘Feeding Frenzy’ finale starts and ends with balls out guitar, but elsewhere settles into the mid-paced groove that inhabits the majority of the album (ten songs, just over 43 minutes).
