‘No Tomorrow’ is a slower, not as aggressive tune (still hellacious laryngitis throat though), guitars picking up only come the chorus. Could his other half be invading Hypocrisy too? Actually "The Fourth Dimension" hinted at such sensibilities, its tuneful nature certain made it popular in these parts. Look out, but similar guitar melodies crop up in ‘Global Domination’ (ironic title? No, another track dedicated to Tagtgren’s obsession with alien invasion), something akin to rollicking Amon Amarth, particularly with the bellowing voice (instead of high pitched shriek), with discernible lyrics and another spoken, pre-recorded voiceover. The deeper vox is interspersed with electronic modulations and that painful glass gargled larynx on ‘Alive’ (as a Kiss fanatic, surprising it’s taken this long to use that title). Drumming is handled by the Norge beast Horgh (Immortal) and once again bass duties fall to Mikael Hedlund (given short spotlight to start a pedestrian ‘The Quest’).
Face it, the best part of Hypocrisy is seeing them play live, so if a new album facilitates the ultimate goal (especially in light of the backseat taken to the more popular/profitable alter-ego), then I’m all for it!
