Another upgrade from the Finnish metal assembly line. Like the country’s leading exporter, Nokia, the musical community seems to take spare parts and reassemble a new (often improved) product seemingly overnight. This 11-track debut comes from Brother Firetribe bassist Jason Flinck and former Ancara guitarist Samuel Hjelt: high energy power metal, ala early Sonata Arctica or vintage Stratovarius (like on ‘Hourglass’).

Some serious shredding and just a concluding hint of modulated vocals on ‘Deep Down’, but sure enough, ‘Staring Eyes’ employs a more modern vox. The title cut and ‘Miracle’ resonates with a heavier tone, but not without signature guitar break. Sprinkling of keyboards makes ‘Tailspin’ one of those infectious tunes all Finns do so well. Thankfully, the multiple voice, piano ballad ‘Two Hearts’ is left to the end (for easy editing, or turning music off early), the lone dullard in the crowd.
