Evanscapps – Last Time

Southern Metal at its finest! Why wouldn’t it be? When you have two very talented musicians from heavyweight Southern Rock bands. Ean Evans from Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Bobby Capps from .38 Special. This collaboration isn’t surprising, it’s not the first time a member from each band has gotten together (i.e. the Van Zant brothers).

Different than their normal gigs, with more of a metal edge, but still sticking to their roots in the south. Consisting of 11 tracks, "Last Time" doesn’t offer a single bad tune. Ean plays all the guitars with Bobby on lead vocals and keyboards. Also enlisted on this endeavor on a few of the songs are Todd Harrell (3 Doors Down), Rickey Medlocke (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot), and Todde Lawton (Toby Mac).

‘Mississippi’ has a Rage Against The Machine feel with Bobby firing off lines fast paced along with the song ‘Walk’. The heavier tracks, including ‘Dead Is Rising’, ‘Follow The Morning Sun’ and ‘Walk’, feature great riffs and heavy grooves. Slowing it down a notch or two with ‘Innocence’, ‘For Somethin’ Or Nothin’, and ‘Hole In My Head’ never lets up, still in your face Rock! Sometimes there is an Alice In Chains vibe, along with a little Black Label Society, and at times I’m reminded of a Drivin’ And Cryin’, Cry Of Love, and Brother Cane.

"Last Time" was originally released independently in 2005 with little to no success, and didn’t get the recognition it deserved. Hence - this newer, remastered release via Rock Ridge Music. Unfortunately, Ean was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in 2008, and passed away days prior to the release in May 2009.

Bobby had this to say on the Evanscapps Myspace page: For all who have asked, I am deeply saddened to confirm rumors that my friend and brother Ean is now resting in heaven with his maker. He will be missed by family, friends and fans. Anyone who knew Ean on a personal level, knew him for his humble approach and genuine southern mannerisms. He was, and always will be, known on a professional level as, not only a great bass player but, a great guitar player, singer, songwriter, and producer. We did a great thing together with this CD and I intend to keep his spirit alive by preaching his music for a long time to come. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. RIP EAN!! I love you brother!!! - Bobby Capps

Also, Rock Ridge Music plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this album in Evans’ name to Lyrics For Life (www.lyricsforlife.org), a charity that benefits children with cancer and their families.
