The ballad, ‘Candle In The Dark’ is easy FM radio fodder, while the majority have a smooth, easy-listening 80s Metal-lite quality about them, without the pompous lyrical exploits indicative of that bygone era. Think Stage Dolls or even Bryan Adams (Soto’s contribution). Kid you not! If that weren’t enough (and it should be), check out the 60s style (with backing female singers) ‘See My Baby Jive’, a cross between early doo whop influenced Billy Joel (‘Uptown Girl’) and The Supremes (‘Baby Love’).
Sappy, is an understatement! About as gritty as it gets is ‘What’s On Your Mind’, at least for an original, as their rendition of Cheap Trick’s ‘Surrender’ retains some of the classic’s bite.
