Norwegians began life upon drummer Tjodalv taking leave of Dimmu Borgir but after more than a decade, the band has taken a more melodic turn, residing between Testament (opener ‘The Urge’) and a mellower Black Label Society (‘Live My Dream’), reminiscent of modern Rage, although each of these tunes recalls a different style (artist?). Only the aptly entitled ‘Sick Bastard’ harkens to black metal and the Lite variety, at that. The start of ‘Another Turn’ hint at latter day Queensrchye, but most of it keeps to a fairly rock orientation, whereas the concluding ‘Character Flaw’ follows a staccato rhythm. The eight tracks fail to crack 32 minutes, so the ride is over prematurely. Would like to have heard more!
