I have heard of Georgia based Nashville Pussy (not to be confused with Alabama Thunderpussy) but never listened to them.  So what to expect from the music was going to be some what a surprise (but you can get the idea from their name and image).  Whether good or bad was to be determined as I did some research on their website and popped in “From Texas To Hell".

Blaine Cartwright’s [vocals, guitar] voice make me want to smoke a carton of cigs, wife Ruyter Suys[guitar],Karen Cuda[bass], and Jeremy Thompson[drums] make up this white trash, Jack Daniels, southern rock band.

They spent three years working on this latest cd, which was recorded at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studio in Texas so right off the bat you know it’s going to have a southern feel.

The first track that caught my attention was # 3, ‘Drunk Driving Man", which has a cool guitar lick throughout. The next song that got somewhat of my attention was, and my favorite, ‘Late Great U.S.A.’.  It has a quicker beat and a good hook.  While traveling from hell to Texas, I found the use of imported sound effects to start songs REALLY annoying, no need for it that much if you have a good collection of tunes.

So what am I saying…this cd is ok, not bad, but not great by a long shot.

Really the bottom line is the best thing about the Nashville Pussy is Ruyter Suys tits!!  The next time I’m driving through Texas, I’ll throw in "From Hell To Texas", but not in any State before!
