“Into The Valley of the Moonking” is the 15th album from British rock band Magnum. Since their formation in 1972, the band has experienced some line-up changes, but vocalist Bob Catley and guitarist/songwriter Tony Clarkin have remained the stabilizing force within the quartet.

I found the album to have little variation from song to song. ‘Take Me To The Edge’ was one of only a couple of tracks that strayed from the mid-paced tempo heard throughout the album. The final song ‘Blood On Your Barbed Wire Thorns’ has more of a contemporary rock ‘n roll sound, but can’t redeem the rest of the album.

If you like the “classic hard rock” sound like you’d hear at your local bar, you might want to check out this band, but I’m sure there are many others that can outperform this one.
