This is a solid debut from drummer Richard Christy that also features the talents of Tim Owens (Iced Earth, Judas Priest, and Yngwie Malmsteen) on vocals and bassist Steve DiGiorgio (Testament, Sebastian Bach, Death). Influenced by his time in Death and Iced Earth, Richard has composed music that incorporates elements of both death and power metal, utilizing Tim’s talents to create dynamics.

‘Voices Within The Walls’ starts the album on a traditional heavy metal vibe with mid paced riffing, beats, and Tim delivering straight forward vocal. First single/video ‘Ghost Town’ is interesting, at first opening with death metal riffing, followed by a more classic power metal/Iced Earth type chorus, reverting back to more blast beats and aggressive guitars. Does it work…yeah, I think it does. The way Richard writes the two genres into one piece of music is cohesive, something I questioned at first. ‘From The Abyss’ plods a bit but contains complimenting guitar work. Shortest song (2:53) ‘Creating Our Machine’ is progressive in a Nevermoresque way. ‘Blood On Wood’ has a slight gallop and Rich gets busy on the drums for ‘The Darkest Eyes’. A somber melody juxtaposes aggressiveness in ‘Fear In The Sky’ and the basic rhythm to ‘Manifestations’ reminds me of a God Forbid song.

With this album it is clear Christy’s years in the heavy metal world have solidified his drumming and laid out a template for his songwriting style. Curious to see if he continues combining the death and power metal worlds.
