Big Ball - Hotter Than Hell

Label: AFM
Format: CD download
Released: 2010

Sounding like AC/DC has long been a good career move, despite the Aussies’ longevity. Back in the 80s, upstarts like Rhino Bucket and Dirty Looks turned the formula into success. Lately, the likes of Bullet, Airbourne and now Germany’s own Big Ball have all played with variations on the theme. However, this lot is the closest I’ve heard to AC/DC, without being a tribute act playing Young & Johnson penned hits!

Waist deep in raspy throated, whiskey soaked blues riffs and incessantly repeated double entendre lyrics, Big Ball (even that name is a reference to the tongue-in-cheek catalog from Down Under) can do it all, from the rocking ‘Killdozer’, ‘Plugged In’ or ‘Double Demon’ (aka she’s a double D, man) to the slower stomp of ‘Porna Lisa’. Stump/amaze your friends at your next party/BBQ, pre-concert tailgate with this "rare, unreleased AC/DC bootleg" and see if they can tell the difference. Doubt there’s any hard rock/metal fans of the last 25 years that won’t find something to their liking (‘Free Fire Zone’ is the lone toe stub of the batch). In a word, fun!
