Insidious Disease - Shadowcast

The brainchild of Dimmu Borgir guitarist Silenoz, aided by ex-Morgoth vocalist/Century Media Europe employee Marc Grewe, oft-travelled Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury, drummer Tony Laureano (Nile, Dimmu, Angelcorpse) and Jardar, from Old Man's Child. Old school death metal is the name of the game, but it's not all blastbeats.

'The Desire' and 'Rituals Of Bloodshed' are glorious examples of the DismEntombed Swedish style, while 'Value In Flesh' and the instrumental 'Abandonment' ride swirling undulations akin to Nile or Morbid Angel. There are a few pre-recorded bits, none more gruesome than what appears to be a zombie smorgasbord that separates 'The Essence Of Neglect' and 'Abortion Stew', the undead gleefully (?) slurping entrails. Although given the later title, perhaps the soundbite means something else entirely. Grewe varies between a hardcore bark and phlegm covered vocal chords. The artwork has supposedly already been "banned" and first editions will include a bonus cover of Death's 'Leprosy'.
