Trigger The Bloodshed – Degenerate

England’s Trigger the Bloodshed are probably one of the more recognized names when it comes to the underground extreme metal scene. This third album delivers more aggressive millennium brutality focusing of riffing, blasting beats, and a full fist to the jaw and a hammer to the back of the head.

‘A Vision Showing Nothing’ is uncompromising instantly go for the throat out the gate. ‘De-breed’ follows and is no less punishing with a bit of variety in the lead work. Often, two voices can be heard in a song, one that’s a prominent death growl, the other…more venomous, like black metal scream. Trigger are straight down the line in your face, technical, and semi catchy with the rhythm/riff changes, but not on the level of great thrash like Testament. Trigger is more like Lamb Of God (but heavier) because the voice is just relentless, like in ‘Dead Vein’ which could drive anyone insane. Guess that’s the point, right? The drums in ‘Dethrone’ are just sick.

If you’re looking for an album to listen to when running somebody over in your car, then it’s time to degenerate.
