Third (hence the title) solo outing from former Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki is a marked improvement over the last outing, which I panned harshly (http://www.metalasylum.net/reviews/2009/mr0952.php). Funny that he disowned his Strato legacy, as the lively opener ‘Marching With The Fools’ seems a textbook version of the famous Finns: high pitched singer (although less command of English that Kotipelto), keyboards, guitars. Is someone homesick?

‘The World Doesn’t Get To Me’ (any hidden messages there?) follows a similarly upbeat pomp, while ‘Crossing The Rubicon’ rides a double barreled kick drum attack. The 10:16 title track comes in many guises, starting with the rasp of military snare beneath a female voiceover, then an acoustic ballad (with female duet) eventually rising in tempo and intensity to more lively fare, before ending in a plodding, mid-tempo guitar showcase, with the backing of orchestral strings. The ‘Frozen Winter Heart’ finale is a full scale acoustic laced power ballad. Thankfully, "Trinity" is a complete 180 from "Age Of Aquarius".
