Iron Fire - Metalmorphosize

For the tenth anniversary vocalist Martin Steene decided to re-record some old unreleased material from era between "On The Edge" and "Revenge", even utilizing some former members, and in the case of ‘Crossroad’, female accompaniment. There are also some brand new songs, much more (modern) staccato bass driven (‘Still Alive’), with plenty of aggressive double bass drumming throughout the disc. His much maligned outfit (unduly so, in these eyes) has seemingly righted the ship, thanks to the last album, "From The Grave". Steene’s voice has been (unfavorably) compared to Vince Neil, Mike Patton (Faith No Moore) and here, he tries some gruff/death metal-lite, (appropriately) on ‘Underworld’. Voiceless, keyboard backing comprises the first two minutes of ‘Phantom Symphony’, which includes a brutal double bass section, angelic "ah, ah" intermixed.

Good stuff.
