Twisted Sister - Live At Wacken: The Reunion

Label: Eagle Vision
Format: DVD
Released: 2010
Reviewed By: Mark Gromen
Rating: 8.5/ 10

Twisted, as they once were, what with the current incarnation ditching the make-up and Dee Snider's family plastered all over reality television. This 110 minute package has been available overseas since '05. Not to be confused with the recent Astoria, UK show from '04, despite the name, this is more than just the headlining, titular performance from a year earlier. The visuals were lovingly put together by a longtime Twisted fan, his 12 page color booklet now relegated to a three-panel fold-out. Each song from the German showcase is intercut with off-stage rarities and interview segments with all five band members, as well as onstage portions form South Korea (playing for the USO) and in NYC.

The interview footage includes everyone’s explanations of both break-up and ultimate reunion, sort of like a Behind The Music special in reverse, with emphasis on the music. A second, audio disc, offers live Sister, back in ‘80 (pre-signed, club show), ‘You Can’t Stop Rock N Roll’ from a ‘82 London Marquee show and a reprise of six cuts from the Wacken show. In the bonus section there’s a 4:30 snippet with Mark Mendoza, explaining the (then forthcoming) re-release of “Stay Hungry”, complete with in-studio footage.
