"Coordinated Mutilation"…don’t you just love how creative these death metal bands are with album and song titles (and in this case also artwork)? But then really, does it matter if your mutilation is done with coordination, haha, well ok, you do have to prevent injuring yourself during the process. It all just ends up being a bloody mess anyway.

Combining Swedish death with American influences from Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel, Volturyon viciously open their second release with the aptly titled ‘Bloodsoaked Solution’ and ‘Savage Gluttony’, a one-two punch packing in blazing riffs and flesh ripping leads, switching between guttural to vicious vocals, and steadfast drums. With a plethora of these type of bands in the death metal genre, fighting it out in the clubs for their place in the scene, it really is hard to distinguish one from the other given the common elements that make up the music. With that, what it then boils down to is who writes the better arrangements and has the better production, something I’d say Volturyon has. Over the 10 songs there’s no variety aside from tempo changes here and there (this is what you’d expect from such a band), but in execution these guys do include some cool catchy changes and leads (see the title track, ‘Abide Under Eminence’, and ‘Ravaged’) within several tunes.
