Ten tracks (‘Rumpelkombo’ being just a 6 second intro to ‘Barrett’s Privateers’) of essentially the same pomp and pompous, alcohol and pun-filled buccaneer metal formula as their debut. Although the metallic quotient is a little heavier this time around, the concertina (real or synthesized) is still mixed in. Seems to be several hidden (and not so subtle) inferences throughout, including the pirates vs. Vikings battle (via time portal) of the title track, a song entitled ‘Swashbuckled’ (where they call out each member of the New Jersey troupe!) and ‘Scraping The Barrel’ where the Scots take on their detractors. Referencing oft voiced complaints, the lyrics include "You may think you’ve heard this music before, that Running Wild did it back in ’84. Many have told us we can’t go on. One day we’ll run out of lyrics for songs, but when it comes time to write album #4 we’ll scrape up the barrel once more."

Speaking of lyrics, drunkenness figures highly, including "get drunk or die", "one more drink", "A pirate’s life is empty without booze" and the entirety of ‘Rum’ where the title is virtually the only words. Tempos and musical style vary, from the thrash intensity of ‘Buckfast Powersmash’ to the epic, somewhat Cradle Of Filth inspired black metal closer ‘Death Throes Of The Terrorsquid’. Here’s to another round!
