Take the galloping rhythms and a few familiar melodies of legendary Running Wild with the vocal tone and big chorus’ of Sabaton, and some influence from the lesser known names from the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, and you get the European Power Metal stylings of Powerwolf. They also wear corpse paint style makeup adding a touch of the theater to the presentation.

After a really short useless intro, ‘Sanctified With Dynamite’ gets their fourth album rolling. A Romanian tinge to the keyboards open the charging ‘All We Need Is Blood’ making this one ready for battle and impending war. The break mid way with accenting keys and group vocals create the desired effect for this tune. The same kind of energy carries over into ‘Dead Boys Don’t Cry’. I like how ‘Murder At Midnight’ starts with the vocal and no instruments, reminds me of Zak Stevens era Savatage. Do I hear a little Nightwish in the keyboards and guitar melody for ‘Son of A Wolf’? if so it works. ‘Night Of The Werewolves’… little theme here? Hearing the Running Wild in this one and I like the punchy chorus.

I like this album, music has a lot of energy and a fresh yet classic sound for today.
