Too bad this album title will mean nothing to American hard rock/metal fans, or the majority of journalists and radio Djs (at least in bigger markets), because unfortunately this country only supports or pays attention to what is currently “popular”. Regardless, Jorn (Lande), continues on his solo journey (7th original studio album) writing music that is influenced by classic hard rock/heavy metal music, such as Dio, Black Sabbath, Rainbow and Whitesnake. And if you ask most fans of hard rock/metal what they are listening to you get the same complaint, “I miss the bands from the 70s and 80s”. Jorn could be a solution to the problem.

After a nice short 2 minute acoustic intro about discovering music (‘My Road’), opening title track sets the album’s tone, Jorn’s Dio/Coverdaleish vocals with both legend’s talent for lyrics celebrating this style of music. Great upbeat punchy tempo and riffs behind ‘A Thousand Cuts’ (also ‘Chains Around You’), one Dio fans will surely enjoy. ‘Ride Like The Wind’ is a faithful, more guitar based cover of a tune that apparently has something hard rockers like (see Saxon’s keyboard watered down version on the “Destiny” album). ‘The World I See’ is Jorn at his best, influenced by Dio (actually this one reminds of something off the often overlooked “Strange Highways” album) , begun expertly with clean guitar and a soft melodic vocal that soon hits with a hard riff and beat and mind melting leads, transitioning again back to the melody, then back again to the heavier movement. Epic! Attitude and bottom end are the ingredients to ‘Time To Be King’ and those gritty guitar riffs and leads. Think I hear a little Boston in the leads for the more arena rock rocker ‘Black Morning’. Good stuff. ‘I Came To Rock’ closes the album and appropriately titled.
