Opening with 'Oath of the Abyss', Jeff Kendrick and ax mate Mike Spreitzer don’t hold back and go for the throat with their riffs. They continue to wow the senses on 'The Appetite' with some mighty fine solo work. Drummer John Boecklin is an unsung powerhouse. On songs like 'Gutted' and 'Winter Kills' you get the feeling they probably had to change drum heads after each song. 'Tripping over Tombstones' shows new bassist Chris Towning brings a very full and easily heard tone which is always welcomed to my ears. Dez 's vocals unleash this Punk and Hardcore tint to them with songs like 'Desperate Times'.
This album ends on a amazing and out there choice of cover songs; ‘Sail’ by AwolNation. They did what many artists should do, they made it their own. It bookends perfectly with the rest of the album. Definitely a highlight and a surprise. More bands should follow their example don’t rest on your laurels and continue to push for more.
