Already I’m laughing. Had to review this because Iwrestledabearonce (well, Iboxedadolphintwice, lol) are one of the more popular names from this trendy sub-genre of “metal” (do they get categorized as such?), and my hopes are if this type of music gets enough bad press it will go away like acne. Really?? Century Media, expected so much more from you. And Steve Vai, really? You must have felt sorry for these turkeys to play on a song. What, do you have to be twelve and mad at your parents for taking away the cell phone or not letting you go shopping at Hot Topic in order to enjoy this? Lol. Everything is wrong here, band name and photo, logo, artwork, songs, fashion.

What is it with the male barking and the singing female voice, disjoined, un-complimenting, odd time signatures, combining styles trying to be “art rock”, just sounds like noise in the end. Actually, the video and music for ‘Boat Paddle’ are creatively on point for this querky band. So for what they do it works for them. But, you wanna try and be artistic, two words for you, Dream Theater. Wanna use a male and female vocal together that compliments, Nightwish. ‘Mind The Gap’ is the only thing with a consistent song structure and some enjoyable quality to the listening experience.

This emo/alternative/metalcore sub genre(s) is as useless and awful as the Nu Metal fad, and I don’t recognize any as relevant to the evolution of hard rock and heavy metal. It too has the shelf life of bread. And of course a portion of mainstream America will buy into this trend like every other that Rolling Stone or some other popular form of media that says this is something worth listening to, at the moment.
