Nice to hear the spirit of the 80s hard rock/ metal grittier bands like Skid Row, Wildside, Shotgun Messiah, Lillian Axe, XYZ, and Dirty Looks (see ‘Sound of the Loud Minority’), in Sweden’s Crazy Lixx. On their 4th album, riffs, riffs, and more riffs open these eleven songs and keep the vitality and attention focused toward the chorus. First single/video ‘Hell Raising Women’ is a catchy rocker ready to get strippers strippin at the Go Go bar. ‘Girls of the 80’s’, the title sais it all, bound by very melodic verses, backing vocals on the chorus, complimenting guitars and keyboards embrace that decade’s pop metal radio, ala Autograph. These guys are such a throwback but done very well, and is refreshing after so many years of this genre being absent. Attitude, spirit, and just fun are what ‘All Looks No Hooks’, ‘Ain’t No Rest in Rock n Roll’, and ‘Call To Action’ are all about. Big gang vocals open ‘Heroes Are Forever’ and ‘Wrecking Ball Crew’ ends things keeping the guitars out in front.
