Resurrection Kings is the new group featuring the talents of guitarist Craig Goldy (Dio, Giuffria), drummer Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath), bassist Sean McNabb (Dokken, Great White), with Chas West on vocals, who has sang for The Jason Bonham Band, Lynch Mob, and Red Dragon Cartel. What do you get…eleven solid AOR rock and metal edged hard rockers. Since you have Goldy writing the riffs a few of these feel like they could have fit on Dio’s “Dream Evil” album, see ‘Livin Out Loud’, ‘Wash Away’, and especially ‘Silent Wonder’. It all works, Craig does have his own unique way of writing a riff so you can’t help the familiarity to his time in Dio.

Elsewhere on the album, lead off track ‘Distant Prayer’, ‘Who Do You Run To’ (with its Rainbow-ish feel), and ‘Falling For You’ (nice retro 80s keys in contrast to the metal riffing) - all Grade A hard rock radio rockers with melodic keyboards and catchy hook Chas’ voice compliments nicely. ‘Path Of Love’ at first has that Dio feel – nice pre solo breakdown and where Craig really goes for it in the solo. Charging keyboards and guitars kicks up the tempo for ‘Had Enough’, as with ‘Don’t Have To Fight No More’, Appice getting to show his chops more. Only one ballad, overall its solid top to bottom, not a clunker in the bunch. Each song has its own feel. These guys hit the nail on the head first time out. Nice job.
