Lo Pan's new EP, "In Tensions," is a major leap forward for the band. Gloriously 90s, without too much flannel to shrink in the dryer, all 5 songs on the mini-release are killers. All 5 deliver meaty riffs, tender enough to fall right off the bone. They evoke Metal sounds of Soundgarden, Smile, Placebo, and most of all, Tool - - with Maynard-reminiscent vocals and time shifty riffs that don't require a calculator to appreciate.

My biggest complaint is that it's only an EP. I really hope that this is just a preview of greatness to come in the not-too-distant future. With music this strong and a band name like Lo-Pan, Jack Burton doesn't stand a chance.
