Lots of good, mainly: “Ascension,” “Goddess of the Dark Misfits,” “Whispers of the Mountain Ossuary,” “Silent Conversations With Distant Stars.”
Hecate Enthroned are masters of the epic tone, ranging from the depths to the heavens, bringing megaton heaviness and grandeur, interspersed with melodic quiet and light. The screechy Cobra Commander-voice vocals are seriously off-putting, though; the best moments are the instrumental, and the superb guest female vocal sections, delivered by Sarah Jezebel Deva (Cradle of Filth, Therion, Mortiis).
If your tastes go this far, then you’ll find this album a masterpiece. If you’re a bit more restrained, then I *still* encourage you to give it a spin. There are times to step out of your comfort zone, and “Embrace of the Godless Aeon” is a great reason to do that.
