Warsenal’s sound is a primitive, primal, imprecise, dangerous Rock n’ Roll, Speed Metal, and Thrash hybrid, with some proto-Punk tendencies. Think early Iron Maiden, Slayer, Metallica, Overkill, Megadeth, Motorhead, Kreator, Manowar, and Anthrax. They take the above elements, pour kerosene on the pile, and light the match. The result is explosive.

I love that Warsenal sound like a trio of equals, and that they don’t use extra tracks to fatten up the sound. When the guitar solo gets going, the back end is fully supported by the bass and drums. This, plus the imprecision of the riffs, makes for a kickass live feel; there’s no doubt that this record was made by humans, not by machines. loops, and studio tricks. Drummer Vincent Caron is a big part of this human element; he pounds away at that snare drum with downright anger.
Warsenal reuse some of the moves from their own playbook throughout the course of the record, which does lead to occasional familiar, rehashed moments. But this is the right album at the right time for its fanbase.
Standout tracks: “Doomed From Birth,” “Lords of Rifftown,” “Feast Your Eyes.”
